AstraLux Winter Wellness Subscription

Feel good in your body, inside and out

Health is feeling at ease in your body.  It’s knowing which tools to use to bring vitality into to your daily life.  It’s having the right oils to make your skin feel supple, even on days when you make a dozen trips between the cold, damp outdoors and the dry heat in your home.  It’s having the right selection of herbal medicine to make it through the cold and flu season without needing to reach for the NyQuil.  It’s using herbal medicines not to deny yourself “bad” drugs from the pharmacy, but because you know herbs work and they connect you to the natural world.  Plus, have you tasted elderberry cough syrup?  It’s delicious.

Subscribe: Give yourself a monthly Gift of Natural Body Care and Herbal Medicine

A monthly box filed with products that will ease your body's transition through the seasons, boost your resistance to colds and the flu and soothe dry skin.
A  subscription service that takes you from late fall through early spring and all through the summer.  Herbs work best when taken over time.  This subscription gives you locally harvested, handmade medicine to usher you from the time of year to prepare for the coming winter through to the month when our bodies are shifting back toward light and warmth.

Community supported herbalism (CSH) is similar to a community supported agriculture program, where you sign up with a farm to get a weekly share of fresh veggies all summer long.  Having members sign up at the beginning of the season allows me to harvest and blend the right amount of medicine, so I know I'll have enough to provide throughout the winter.

Is the AstraLux Monthly Subscription right for you?

A word about seasonal medicine

Plants interact with the same environmental pressures that we withstand.

Plants endure changing conditions all year, and by using the medicine of plants that grow where we live, we benefit from their evolutionary wisdom.  The plants that grow around us are uniquely suited to address the physical challenges we face as the natural world shifts through the year.

Eating seasonally has become common place.  We eat fruits and vegetables at the peak of their local season for optimum nutrition and freshness.  Local plant medicines fit perfectly into this framework.  By working with the plants that live in the same bioregion where our own bodies grow, we can connect human health to the changing seasons of the natural world.

Some plants thrive in the river flood plane: submerged in the high water of winter, drenched by torrential rain in the spring, dry under the sun when the water recedes in summer, dormant in the dusty heat of late August.  Others need consistent damp shade to survive.  Understanding their lives can teach us when to bring them into ours.

I have built relationships with the plants I work with.  When I harvest from a stand of yarrow that I’ve watched grow for years, the medicine I make contains that commitment.

AstraLux products blend native plants from the Pacific Northwest with the European transplants our ancestors lovingly brought along on their journey to the new world.
